We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework (EYFS). The EYFS sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. A copy of the current EYFS can be found on the government website:

All staff at preschool are experienced in providing activities which cover the main learning areas set out in the EYFS, and are on hand to help support and enhance both child initiated and adult guided learning

Ofsted

Wymeswold Preschool is registered with Ofsted. As such, we are required to meet the requirements set out in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Routine inspections are conducted by Ofsted approximately every 6 years to ensure that high standards of care and education are maintained. In October 2018 the Ofsted inspector judged us to be ‘Good’ in every category. The full report can be viewed via the following link:

Record Keeping

 

During your child’s time at Preschool we will be monitoring their development. Observations are used to make informed decisions about planning activities to help children to progress along their learning journeys. We use ‘Tapestry’ which is an online learning journal for children. More information will be sent to you explaining what ‘Tapestry’ is and how you can access your child’s account. Records are confidential and will only be available to a child’s parents and relevant members of staff.

 

When your child leaves preschool, these will be yours to keep. Parents are welcome to contribute to these learning journey’s and share observations and photos of their child as they grow and develop. This may include things such as learning to ride a scooter/bike, swimming certificates, gymnastics awards or any activities or special occasions they may experience outside of preschool. If you would like to discuss your child’s progress with a member of staff we are always happy to talk to you, however at busy times we may have more time to talk to you at the end of the session. Alternatively you are more than welcome to make an appointment with the Preschool Staff anytime.
